Artists Reception during Easthampton ArtWalk, Thursday May 11, 5:00pm – 8:00pm
Part of an occasional series we could call “Old Friends of Big Red Frame”, we are pleased to host an exhibit of artwork by two artists without whom Easthampton would not be what it is today: Mark Brown and Marty Klein.
Mark Brown, better known nationally for his whimsical clocks made of mostly repurposed kitchen and household ware, has been creating art in Easthampton for more than four decades, along side his wife and fellow artist Susan Boss. Here Brown will be showcasing a lesser known aspect of his creativity, a series of “immediate, unplanned, and spontaneous” drawings and illustrations, as he describes this artwork in his Artist Statement.
Marty Klein has been in Easthampton for almost as long as Mark Brown. A blacksmith by trade, he embraced a second carrier as a scanographer, pixels being a bit lighter to handle that forged metal parts… what is scanography? Come and see the exhibit to find out, some of his favorite creations will be on display along side a new body of work, original collages created from existing artwork.
Besides his passion for the arts, Marty Klein is also very active in the preservation of open spaces and smart growth advocacy in Easthampton, mostly through the PCT or Pascommuck Conservation Trust, and more recently with his newly formed coalition, EDB (Easthampton Deserves Better). More about this in the News Section of or website.
