Art is a Gift

November 26, 2022 - December 31, 2022

A last minute appeal:
It bothered me that one wall of our Art is a Gift galleries was empty, following a cancellation. Not anymore, there was a reason to this available space!
Last Friday a new customer walked through the big red door of the frame shop, wanting to frame some paintings made by her aunt and daughter (it skips a generation, she said in her rolling east European accent.) I like accents, it gives a safe opportunity to ask where they’re from, having an accent myself, apparently…
Olana is from Ukraine, established in the valley where, among other things she runs a 501c3 organization to raise fund to have a bomb shelter built in her home school in Kyiv. But these days she is focused on raising funds for her aunt, the painter, whom she helped flee Ukraine and is now safe in Croatia, but with no income possibilities.
Olana asked me if I knew of a place where she could exhibit her aunt’s paintings. I responded that there were certainly options, but all exhibition spaces were typically booked months in advance. Then I thought about my vacant spot on the wall of the ECA gallery.
So we decided to give it a try, for just this final week of the season: We invite you to stop by Old Town Hall this week and next, and consider the purchase of one of Tamara Tkachuk’s paintings. 100% of the sales will benefit her and her husband. Alternatively, if you want to support the bomb shelter project, you can do so here. And if you are not interested in a painting, please consider a monetary donation. To learn more about Tamara Tkachuk and her husband, click here, and to see some images of her work, it’s here.
Thank you!
